About
I am Beverley Saucell and I am passionate about dogs and my job. I am committed to using kindness in training and use only techniques that will motivate dogs. I offer advice based on the individual needs of you and your pet. Having rehabilitated my own anxious dog, I empathise with the difficulties it may bring living with a reactive dog.
As a full-time professional Clinical Animal Behaviourist and Dog Trainer, I have trained for many years to be appropriately qualified and experienced to help owners with their family pets. I gained a BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Animal Behaviour from Portsmouth University. I am a full member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC), have an Advanced Diploma in Companion Animal Behaviour and Training (DipCABT) from the COAPE (Centre of Applied Pet Ethology) and am a COAPE Association Behaviour Practitioner.
I have studied under some of the world’s leading educators in training and animal behaviour, both in the UK and USA and am a qualified Clicker Trainer having graduated with distinction from the Karen Pryor Academy. I am a full member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers which was founded in 1995 to offer dog owners a guarantee of quality when looking for puppy or dog training classes.
I help owners gain a better insight into their dogs. I provide a wide range of classes and services that not only involve training for an obedient dog but are about developing a relationship built on mutual trust. See what some of our clients have to say on our testimonials page.
My methods
I believe all dogs can be trained easily without needing to use force or discomfort. I use reward-based training which avoids having to be strict or forceful with your dog. These methods are supported by science and have been shown to be both a highly effective and motivational means of training. You will therefore never be asked to undertake any training action you would be uncomfortable in implementing.
Some of our classes use clicker training. In my experience, dogs enjoy being clicker trained. It provides a clear communication between you and your dog and it's fun as well. And the big plus is that what your dog learns through clicker training is retained for longer.
