Training Classes

In general, dogs benefit from training classes and early obedience training provides you with control over your dog's actions. A well trained dog will respond to your commands even when running off lead in the park, or if you see a potentially dangerous situation. At Fetch! it is our aim to help you be the proud owner of a well trained canine companion.

Teaching your dog to obey simple commands need not be a chore or difficult and we can help you to train your dog to become a sociable and controllable pet. Our weekly classes run in fun, friendly and relaxed surroundings provide you with excellent training advice and are beneficial in encouraging you and your dog to interact positively.

Methodology

Our training uses only reward-based methods whereby potent rewards such as treats, play and praise are used to reinforce your dog's correct responses, without the need for physical correction or punishment. We use a totally hands-off technique known as clicker training, which has a longer term effect on your dog's learning.

Weekly classes are an ideal way for you to learn how to train your dog and at Fetch! we believe problem behaviours can be prevented from developing through training your dog as early as possible - the earlier, the better!

Numbers in our classes are limited to allow for effective supervision of all dogs and provide an appropriate instructor-dog ratio.

Courses:

Puppy Socialisation and Foundation Classes:
At Fetch! we encourage exposure to training as early as possible. At this critical stage, early participation in these classes is beneficial in minimising potential problems that may arise as your puppy matures. Puppies can be enrolled from the time they embark on their vaccination programme through to the age of 20 weeks.

Novice Classes:
Older dogs also benefit from weekly training classes. These novice classes are devised to teach you training for control and are especially suitable for adolescent dogs that may have developed problem behaviours due to the onset of puberty. This course will also suit dogs that have previously attended puppy parties and would benefit from an improver class.

Intermediate and Advanced Classes:
We believe training is an ongoing process and have devised these courses to take your dog's training to a more advanced level. The courses are suitable for dogs that have received previous clicker training and have a good grounding in basic commands. We take this learning, build upon it and apply your dog's skills to real life situations and also lessen the reliance on food treats.

Fetch! believes that training should not limit your dog's freedom of expression, but teach your dog in how to get the best out of life.
